Hawaii: Part 2

We had an amazing time in Hawaii!
The second half of our trip we spent sight seeing and relaxing.

We spent one afternoon in Pearl Harbor at the Arizona Memorial.
It was a perfect way to spend Memorial Day.

We took a little boat ride out to the memorial and were able to look down on the sunken battle ship.

It was an amazing way to remember our fallen heros.
I am so grateful to all the men and women who serve our country.

We are so lucky to live in the Free World.

After that we hiked over to Sharks Cove and watched a gorgeous sunset.

It was breathtaking....can I go back now?

Couldn't resist a fun silhouette photo :)

I think we might have drove to Haleiwa everyday.
It was such a fun cute little town.

We got breakfast there a few mornings.

We ate at Ted's Bakery.
Since my family is from Hawaii, every time I would visit when I was little, I always had to have the "loco moco." I was obsessed.
I told Matt that it was my tradition to order it and be took me to Ted's to get some.

Keep in mind that I hadn't had it since I was little.
The hype was huge in my mind.
But, when I got it I was like...hummm... I'm not so sure about this anymore.
Haha.
I guess things taste different to you when you are younger then they do now.
It was pretty good, but I couldn't even finish a quarter of it.
It was still fun and it brought back my memories of Hawaii as a child.

Matt was smarter and got this homemade breakfast sandwich.
You can't really go wrong with Ted's though.
This was our hot ride around the Island.
It was super fun having the top down and cursing the North Shore.
I sort of felt like I was constantly on the Indiana Jones ride.
One day it did rain on us, but it actually felt good!

Most days we hit the beach and you better believe I was sporting this stuff.
I used to use it daily when I was in High School and I gladly welcomed it back into my life.

We went snorkeling a couple of times and Greg took us cave diving too.
Just to be clear: Cave Diving is when you swim down into the ocean through a hole in the side of a rock and swim into underwater caves....
I guess I didn't realize this when they told me what we were doing.
We swam out to some huge rock and Matt told me to swim down to look at something...so I did.
I saw a small DARK BLACK hole in the side of the rock and swam back up.
He said, "So you just swim into that hole and keep going for a little bit, make sure you pressurize your ears and then you will come up into the cave."
WHAT?!
Needless to say, I did not swim into the dark cave hole, but the boys were brave and I cheered them on.
I mean really?
I told Matt that he had a son at home and he better not hit his head on the tiny tunnel he was swimming through and become unconscious because there was no way I was going in after him.

After that adventure we had lunch at the Waialua Bakery where
we met the Geico Gecko.
One thing that I remember about being little in Hawaii was that there were always so many geckos in my great grandmas house.
It was fun to hunt around my room looking for these little pals.
See- another way things change from when you are little...if I had one of these friends in my house now I would not be a very nice host.

One day it rained on and off so we went up to La'ie to go to the Temple.
Here is one picture I took from the car as we drove up.
We loved being there.
The moment we walked on the grounds we could immediately feel the Spirit.
It was a lovely afternoon.

After that we went back to Haleiwa (again) and had ourselves some matsumoto's Shave Ice.

We got the Lihing Mui with condensed milk and an ice cream bottom.
mind. blown.

I can't believe our trip is over.
It went by so fast, but also slow because I missed Jack so much and was anxious to go home to see him.
He did so good while we were away.
He LOVED playing with his Grandmas and Grandpas!
It made me feel a lot better knowing he was happy and in good hands.

Till next time Hawaii.
